EATEL Business Wins 2018 BIG Achiever Award in Southeast Louisiana

EATEL Business announces that Bayou Industrial Group (BIG), a southeast Louisiana economic development organization, has chosen EATEL for the 2018 BIG Achiever Award.

According to BIG, the competitive annual award is given to, "members who, through non-compensatory, voluntary efforts, exemplify BIG’s mission to grow and strengthen the Bayou Region." The award is a prominent business accolade for southeast Louisiana, and the March 13, 2018 award ceremony in Thibodaux will be emceed by State Rep. Jerome Zeringue, will feature Entergy Louisiana's President/CEO as the keynote speaker, and has twenty corporate and small business sponsors.

One primary reason that EATEL won the award is because of the company's aggressive expansion of a fiber telecommunications network in the area.  Recently, EATEL officially announced the completion of the 100 percent fiber optic network connectivity reaching Thibodaux and Terrebonne Parish markets. Less than 25 percent of the United States has fiber coverage, giving businesses in this region a competitive advantage nationally.

The fiber network also improves Bayou Region infrastructure by establishing a high-speed connection to three EATEL Business data centers in Baton Rouge and Shreveport. These disaster-proof data facilities help businesses store data cost efficiently, backup data safely, and scale IT resources quickly.

In addition to infrastructure improvement, EATEL Business has supported the Bayou Region through its membership in the three local Chambers of Commerce, active involvement in more than a dozen civic organizations, and its scholarship program that has donated more than $800,000 in the last three decades.

"Over the last 80 years, our company has supported many business groups and civic organizations, with a focus on education, economic development, and infrastructure investment, and civic involvement," said Eddie Callais, Major Account Manager for EATEL Business and community advocate in the Bayou Region. "We have done this through monetary donations, in-kind giving, volunteerism, and leadership."
